The Children’s Museum of Houston raised more than
$1 million at its 2018 Dia de los Muertos gala.
THE PARTY The Corinthian was magically transformed into a beautiful Land of the Dead for the Children’s Museum of Houston’s Dia de los Muertos gala, co-chaired by Caroline and Andrew Bean and Caroline and John Harrell, and underwritten by BB&T and Phillips 66. THE SCENE More than 500 guests ascended a candlelit stairwell into a dazzling venue filled with colorful flowers, sugar-skull skeletons and suspended papel picado (perforated paper) banners. Mariachi Monarcas de Mexico and Audio House kept the crowd shaking their bones. Jackson & Company provided a Mexican-inspired menu that included pork chalupas, shrimp jicama and rajas steak. THE HIGHLIGHTS Auction chairs Neekie Kashani and Kelly Sklar led the live and big board auctions—which included a his-and-hers Rolex raffle by Deutsch & Deutsch and other exclusive travel packages. -Mellanie Perez
